Locations

The Exam Schedule lists the locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Registration

Students should therefore check with their instructors for the correct date and time of their exam. Students should be sure to print the official list and bring it for their exams.

If students are scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they must contact their instructor or department in order to schedule a retake test. While it is possible to take three exams in a single day, this can cause high stress levels and could affect the quality of the exam. The instructor may not be able to offer an opportunity to take a makeup test on a different day.

Before taking the exam, students must prepare by reviewing their course material and practicing their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test that measures your ability to read, speak, and write German. The test results are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the test are awarded the Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies that the student has attained language level A1. This level corresponds to the initial stage of the six-level scale of competence outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students must bring a valid government issued ID to the test. Students who do not have a valid picture identification will be disqualified.

Fees

You must pay an exam fee if you wish to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This is in addition to the course fee.

Practice assessments give you an overview of the format and wording, as well as the difficulty of questions on the test. They allow you to assess your knowledge level, find gaps in your knowledge and increase your chances of passing the exam.
